  24. We use it extensively ... with a Comtec (aka Lago aka StorageTek) Tape
  25. Library  (270GB)  with  two  drives.   Works real good for lights outs
  26. backups ..and restores are much much faster.

  28. We  use  a  Sun  Server  (the  Legato  guys  are the Sun engineers who
  29. inveneted RPC, NFS etc ...).

  31. Somethings to keep in mind .... with a AIX  server,  the  tape  drives
  32. needs special microcode in them, so if you dont have  an  IBM  drives,
  33. you might be "screwed" (Legato sits above the OS as an application).

  35. The database files get huge ... we keep 2 months of  database  history
  36. files for about 40GB worth of data ... the  database  size  is  around
  37. 2gb...

  39. i.e.  figure  2.5%  of  the information you want to remember is in the
  40. database.

  42. The  X-windows interface is a bit quirky and their are some minor bugs
  43. that  are  only  cosmetic  ....  but  for  the  actual backup/recovery
  44. subsystem,its rock solid.
