- Hi,
-
- I have a colleague who's got a problem with X packet routing. He has a Sun
- with two ethernet cards that serves as a gateway between a chain of 5-10
- workstations and the outside world. The problem is that this chain needs to
- be secure, so accordingly you cannot telnet through this gateway, but instead
- have to login to the gateway machine, and then telnet onwards. Email however
- is passed ok.
-
- My friend would like to be able to send X applications out to some display
- across the gateway, but everytime he does this he gets the "Unable to open
- display" error.
-
- What is involved in getting this to work - does he have to dismantle the
- security such as it is, so that the packets will get out, or is there some
- way to make the gateway one-way? I ask this because I think the .com and
- .mil guys have figured this one out. Any pointers would be very welcome.
-
- Thanks for your time.
