- : I think this is an interesting question myself. I'm in a somewhat related
- : position, in that I am the only Unix person, but my boss wants a back-up in
- : case of system troubles. I've sent her to training, but in my experience,
- : I took spanish for several years, never used it, shortly thereafter forgot
- : it.
- : I need some simple tasks to keep her knowledgable. Obviously, there is no
- : simple answer, but I'd be interested in hearing some similar experiences
- : that others have been through.
-
- I am in the opposite position. I am in the learning process, and so far
- I have gone on a course, and gone through several crashes and upgrades with
- the main system administrator telling me step by step what to do. What
- suggestions have you received about simple tasks that *I* could do on my
- own to give me some real hands-on work that I do not need the full-time
- sys admin watching me do.
-
- I would be interested in reading e-mail you received about your original
- post. I could show to our sys admin for some suggestions on how to get
- me started with basic admin problems.
