- I would like to be able to view .dvi files at home,
- even though I create them at school. I would eventually
- like to get to a full LaTeX work environment at home
- (probably EmTeX, from other posts here), but this seems
- like a reasonable first step.
-
- I got dvivga.zoo from somewhere, and extracted the files
- contained in that. I got a dvivga.doc , .exe, a bunch of
- font files in a directory called FONTS, and some stuff I
- haven't looked at in a directory called INPUTS. I set
- TEXFONTS=c:\tmp\fonts, TEXINPUTS=c:\tmp\INPUTS, and FONTLIST=pk.
-
- I down loaded a .dvi file from school, and tried to run dvivga
- on that file. I get a white screen w/no print visible. However,
- the program doesn't appear to be hung-- if I push the up arrow or
- down arrows keys or the PageUp PageDn keys, the hard drive
- access light comes on. This makes me believe that one of two
- things is going on:
-
- 1) dvivga thinks it's display the file properly,
- but somehow the colors got mapped to white on white.
- I don't see any way to control colors in dvivga. Do
- I need ANSI.SYS installed for dvivga?
-
- 2) dvivga can't find the right font files.
- I see any error messages, but I'm not quite sure how
- to look for them. I saw a -q option, but I didn't
- see the opposite, if that's what I need.
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
-
- A pointer to the FAQ files for this newsgroup would also be
- greatly appreciated. I would like to set up EmTeX at home,
- and I assume that the FAQ will tell me how to do that. I
- also need to know how much space EmTeX will take-- I'm
- hoping on 10-12 MEG or less, and I assume that info will be
- in the FAQ.
-
- Thanks,
- Mike
