- I need a little help. If you fold a sheet of paper as shown

- --- fold 2 - left half to back
-
-
- and then trim the bottom folds off, you have a little book of 8 pages called,
- I believe, an octavo. If this page is printed correctly, you can print small
- booklets on a single sheet as shown below.

-
- ----------*----------

- | 8 * 1 | the numbers are "page" numbers
- | (7) * (2) | the parenthisized numbers are the "page"
- | * | numbers of the "page" on the back of the
- | * | sheet as might be seen by superman
- | * | "inv" indicates the page is upside down

- If printing in portrait mode on a duplexing printer (left hand long edge
- leading into the printer first) then the "2" sheets should be printed

- first side second side

- This can be easily extended to a double octavo by starting with the sheet in
- the landscape position and folding 3 times (left back, bottom back, left back).
- In this case, bot the bottom and right edges need trimming.
- The "pages" are arranged simillarly with 8 per side of the sheet.
-
- Now my problems is this. I know how to arrange test frames on the
- sheets. I know
- how to arrange for stuff to flow from frame to frame in any order on
- each sheet.
- What I CAN'T seem to do is to flow across sheet boundries. Forward flow is ok.
- Selecting a double sided document and left and right page layout definitions
- take care of that. The problem is getting the flow to reverse (eg from "page"
- 3 which is on sheet 2 to "page" 4 on sheet 1)! The normal technique of
- selecting
- two text frames and "connecting" them doesn't work. The frame on one sheet is
- automatically deselected as soon as you select a frame on the second sheet.
-
- Anybody got any ideas?

- PS: FrameMaker's handling of inverted text is really terrible! You can
- type text into or position the text in an inverted (rotate the frame by 180
- degrees) frame just fine (left, right, up and down have interesting effects -
- kinda like vertigo) but you cannot mouse into position! This is a real pain
- in the above case since (in the double octavo) there are 2 inverted frames in a
- row. To position the cursor in one of the inverted frames, you have to start in
- an uninverted frame and walk (via the arrow keys) to the place of interest.
- sigh!
