- There are two software products for the 2200 which should be sufficient to
- accomplish what you want to do. They are SX1100 and NFS 2200 (which is a
- subset of SX1100.) SX1100 is a version of AT&T Unix V.3.1 for the 2200 series.
- It contains significant networking capabilities such as ftp, NFS, uucp via
- Ethernet using either a Host Lan Controller (HLC) or DCP Ethernet line
- modules, etc. With SX you should be able to configure a print queue that
- would ship the file to SX and execute an lp command there. (Unfortunately
- SX does not have the Berkley lpr/lpd commands.) This is discussed in the
- SX Administrator's Guide (7831 1016-000) pp 10-30. We use it here to go the
- reverse direction for small print jobs that we want printed on a Postscript
- or HP laser printer.
-
- A cheaper alternative would be NFS 2200 which, as I mentioned above, is a
- subset of SX 1100 - not all commands are included in the release. There is
- enough to do your task though. You could move the print files to the
- 2200 via NFS or ftp and have a cron job that looked for something to
- print every few minutes. Hope this helps.
