Well, the most obvious is a frisbee, and a pretty darn good one at that, although the disc has a tendency to
fly in a loop pattern... - / | \ - ad gravitum...
Another would be for jewelry... carefully throw the CD at the ground (hard wood, cement or brick floor preferrably) with tremendous force. Please avert your eyes when doing this, as it gets pretty messy. Next, get out a broom, and sweep up the pieces. You may need to do this several times to get small enough chunks. Next, go over to Franks Nursery and Crafts (or your favorite craft shoppe) and purchase either earring pieces (pierced or clip-on) or a pin backing and attach to the CD shards. For pierced earr
ings, you should drill a small hole into the shard near the top. For a pin, just superglue the pin backing onto the back of the shard. You can also glue the shardlings (those shards that aren't big enough) to the pin or earrings for a nice effect.
A third way to use old CD's would be for Christmas Tree ornaments. Take two CD's and glue them together, label sides facing each other. Drill a hole approx a half inch from the radius of the CDs. Glue a picture (rounded) on both sides, and glue whatever you wish to the outside. Voilla! You have a CD ornament!
A fourth way would be to make a clock like those found at Radio Shack. You can find the mechanisms at Franks Nursery and Crafts.
These ideas can also be incorporated into fun things to do with your kids on a rainy day. However, you may not wish to do the jewelry as the pieces are EXTREMELY SHARP!!!
