I am in desperate need of advice concerning the cofiguration of a new system in our department. Her's the scenario:
- some equipment has already been purchased(ie a 486 Dos based PC and a 128mb optical disk drive(3.5"). A corel scsi LS2000 card has also been fitted to the PC.
We want our SPARCstation10 Model 30 to manipulate data collected from the PC. The data will be dumped onto the optical disk from the PC . The disk will then be ejected and transported manually to our department in another part of the city. We would then like to put the disk into an optical disk drive connected to the SPARCstation and read and manipulate the data. I have been told that this will be impossible due to the fact that the original Optical Disk will be Dos formatted.
Does anyone know if this is correct and if so , how to get around it.
Any help will be most greatfully appreciated.

I had to get data from a medical ultrasound machine. The disk was on a DOS fomatted
optical and was read on a Sony drive (DeltaMicrosystems) attached to a SPARC 1. I was
able to use the public domain "mtools" from cs.ubc.ca. I had to add a device to the
table in devices.c. I stil had some minor diffuculties, but I was able to cd to the
optical disk and copy files out into much safer unix teritory :). If you have more
