- We are in the process of installing OpenWindows 3 and have put it in
- /usr/openwin3 during the transition period. A few of us are having
- problems with the new version of cm. Basically, the darn thing core
- dumps on us with a seg. fault anytime an appointment comes up. It
- does manage to blink and beep, but it seems that the problem occurs
- when it tries to pop-up the reminder window.
-
- I tried running dbx on the core file and got this:
-
- orangutan_pmurphy<526> dbx /usr/openwin3/bin/cm core
- Reading symbolic information...
- Read 1191 symbols
- warning: core file read error: address not in data space
- program terminated by signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address)

- I've tried messing with LD_LIBRARY_PATH, my PATH, and various
- combinations thereof to no avail (e.g., removing all references to the
- old OW libraries in LD_LIBRARY_PATH and the old OW bins in PATH). Any
- pointers on where to look would be greatly appreciated.
-
- BTW, this occurs with an X11R5 X server AND the Xnews (OW3 or OW2)
- servers. My window manager is tvtwm if that makes any difference.
- Also, our sysadmin is not particularly sympathetic; it works for him
- :-( and I can't see offhand what difference (of the hundreds) in our
- setups might be causing this.
-
- TIA,
- - Pat
-
- P.S. Please email and I'll summarize if there's any interest shown in
- doing so. Thanks.
