  11.     OK, here's the situation.  I got a Sparcstation 10 running
  12. SunOS 4.1.3, and I need to get more than one monitor attached
  13. to the machine (initially just two).  I have two Sun GX boards
  14. and they seem to install just fine (no errors on boot up, and
  15. they seem to be recognized by the OS).
  16.     I know that the hardware configuration works because the
  17. whole setup works just fine with Openwindows by doing the
  18. command:
  19.     `openwin -dev /dev/cgsix0 -dev /dev/cgsix1`
  20. everything comes up fine.
  21.     However, if I try to start up the MIT X server (X11R4) along with
  22. Motif, only one monitor comes up and the other remains dark.
  23.     Now for the really strange part.  It won't work with two cgsix
  24. cards in slots 2 & 3.  It won't work with two cgthree cards in slots
  25. 2 & 3.  It won't work with a cgsix card in slot 2 and a cgthree
  26. card in slot 3.  However, it WILL work with a cgthree card in slot
  27. 2 and a cgsix card in slot 3!
  28.     Sun hasn't been much help as they really only support their
  29. Openwindows environment.  I'd really like to know what's going
  30. on 'cause we're probably going to need at least one more monitor
  31. on a Sparc 10 by the time this is over, and the extra speed of the
  32. cgsix would be nice for our application.
  33.     If anyone has any clue as to why this is behaving this way, I'd
  34. love to hear from you.  Please E-mail any response and I'll post if
  35. there is any resolution.
