- I am running Newsprint 2.1 on a Sparc 2 with a SPARCprinter attached
- on lpvi0. Printing with his system is very unstable, so times the print
- jobs actually print and other times nothing happens. Sometimes a error
- page is printed that says:
-
- /usr/newsprint/printer_classes/SPARCprinter/C/ps/npcomm.T: NNNN
- Illegal instruction - core dumped
-
- where NNNN is some number always greater than 1000
-
- The log file in /var/spool/SPARCprinter says:
-
- %%[ PrinterError:engine handler not responding ]%%
-
- If you kill the lpd daemon and reload the printer driver
- and restart lpd, the printer starts to work again, but
- soon it is back to a random will it print this or not.
-
- We are running OpenWindows 2 but are using the OpenWindows 3
- Kit from the Newsprint distribution.
-
- E-mail me at b3485834@cs.ubc.ca if you can help.
