  15. Can anyone out there recommend an archiving solution that could be shared
  16. by Suns running SunOS, HP's running HP-UX and Vaxes running VMS?
  17.  
  18. Currently we are looking at purchasing an archiving system based around
  19. WORM drives in a jukebox configuration, attached to a Vax running VMS 5.4.
  20. The intention is that the Suns and HP's will access the worm drives via an
  21. NFS server running on the Vax and some software provided by a third party
  22. which copies the data to the NFS mounted worm drive.

  24. The intention is that this system will be put in place on four sites in the UK
  25. which all have a mix of Vax and Sun hardware, plus some HP kit.

  27. The software has proved very fragile to say the least, added to this the
  28. amount of data being created on the Unix systems is slowly eclipsing that of
  29. the Vax systems.  The result is that more people are questioning the wisdom
  30. of proceeding with the current plan, but there do not appear to be too many
  31. alternatives that would please all parties.  Has anyone got any suggestions/experiences that they could pass on?  Please e-mail direct if
