- Hi people
-
- Can anyone out there recommend an archiving solution that could be shared
- by Suns running SunOS, HP's running HP-UX and Vaxes running VMS?
-
- Currently we are looking at purchasing an archiving system based around
- WORM drives in a jukebox configuration, attached to a Vax running VMS 5.4.
- The intention is that the Suns and HP's will access the worm drives via an
- NFS server running on the Vax and some software provided by a third party
- which copies the data to the NFS mounted worm drive.
-
- The intention is that this system will be put in place on four sites in the UK
- which all have a mix of Vax and Sun hardware, plus some HP kit.
-
- The software has proved very fragile to say the least, added to this the
- amount of data being created on the Unix systems is slowly eclipsing that of
- the Vax systems. The result is that more people are questioning the wisdom
- of proceeding with the current plan, but there do not appear to be too many
- alternatives that would please all parties. Has anyone got any suggestions/experiences that they could pass on? Please e-mail direct if
- possible, thanks in advance for any suggestions.
-
- Cheers
