- We used to get printer status/error messages on our console from
- both our postscript printers attached to serial ports on our 4/330
- server. (ie out of paper, bad postscript messages etc). One day, they
- disappeared, and I have never been able to get them back again. The
- message data comes from reading the serial port to get the serial
- output from the printer. The manual says that lpd hands over status to
- syslogd by default. I have tried lpd -L logfile, and a number of other
- tricks. I managed one day to get a log file by using cat /dev/ttyc >
- logfile, but this seems to blow up the print spooler. Why won't lpd
- deliver the postscript messages!!
-
- Any ideas?
