- I am trying to backup my mac to an sgi workstation via nfs using the mac
- program Retrospect Remote. I am also using Intercon's `nfs/share' software
- on the mac. In other words, Retrospect is copying files from my mac's hard
- disk to the sgi via the nfs/share volume. The problem is that I can backup
- successfully only 1 time between mounts of the nfs/share volume. On the
- next backup try Retrospect remote throws an error (# 205 - no media). The
- nfs/share volume seems to work fine otherwise. To do another backup I must
- drag the nfs/share volume to the trash and then remount it.
-
- It turns out that if the nfs/share volume is connected to our vax (it is
- running multinet) then Retrospect remote behaves just fine; it can perform
- multiple backups with no problem. This makes me think that there may be a
- problem with the nfs software on the sgi workstation or that we have
- configured it incorrectly.
-
- I have talked to Intercon's tech support and to Retrospect Remote's tech
- support and neither know of any problem with their respective software.
-
- I am running version 1.3a of retrospect and version 1.1.2 of nfs/share. I
- am running system 7.1 on a mac IIx. Our workstation is running Irix 4.0.5.
- I am also running the bwnfsd authentication daemon on the sgi. Intercon's
- software requires bwnfsd (or pcnfsd).
-
- I would be most grateful for any clues, hints, suggestions, and/or solutions.
-
- Thanks,
-
