- We have a collection of SGI machines (IRIX 4.0.4) mounting each others
- disks using NFS soft mounts. One machine went down unexpectedly, but
- in spite of being resurrected has left the others with "Stale NFS File
- Handles", which we only seem able to clear by rebooting the other
- machines. We've tried unmounting and remounting the disks, but get
- the stale file handle message whether we use the file system or the
- directory name. We've looked through the NFS Administration Guide
- and greped the online release notes for "stale", but haven't found
- anything pertinent. Is there a less drastic method for clearing these
- stale file handles?

- PS fuser shows no processes accessing these directories and nfsstat
- does not indicate any bad or sleeping calls.
