- | I am having some problems with printing. I am using 'lp' to print and it was working fine.
- | One of the users sent a job to the printer, which is a Tektronics 4693DX, and for some
- | reason did not want it. So he switched off the printer, instead of trying to remove it from the
- | queue. After this, the printer has been refusing to print. Whenever a job is sent it stays
- | on the queue and nothing happens.
- |
- | lpstat -t says everything is fine. For some of the jobs I get a mail from lp saying
- |
- | "error in cadvrprint request 120"
- |
- | and the manual says, its probably a error in the printer.
- |
- | What I would like to know is, Could something go wrong with the printer settings
- | if it is switched off when a job is being received? Is there any other solution
- | other than calling Tektronics hardware support?
-
- Try stopping and restarting the spooling system, making sure all jobs
- owned by lp are killed after stopping, and before starting:
- /etc/init.d/lp stop
- ps -fu lp
- (kill any remaining lp programs)
- /etc/init.d/lp start
-
- That *usually* fixes this kind of problem.
