- I suspect that you are logged in as root, since "." is not already in
- your path. The path for non-privileged users contains "." by default.
- Look in a sytems administration text (e.g. Nemeth et.al., Farrow &
- Thompson) to see why it is not a good idea to have "." in the path for
- root.
