  23. We use some iris4d 35 (R3000, 30Mhz) and some PC compatible (with
  24. DELL-Unix) with an intel 486/33Mhz. In general, the R3000 (cc with
  25. option -O2) have
  26. 170-190 % of the speed of the intel processor (by excessive using
  27. of floating point operations). If you use the gcc compiler for the 486
  28. with option -O2 instead of the DELL cc compiler (haves only option -O)
  29. the code becomes 10 % faster (R3000 : 486 = 1.6-1.8 : 1).

  31. The graphic on the PC (with VGA board) is much slower and by excessive using it
  32. slows down the whole PC.
