- I have noticed some bizarre behavior on several machines running
- 4.0.5. Entries hang around in /etc/utmp, causing 'who' and 'finger'
- to give incorrect information.
-
- For instance, I am, right now, the only person logged on to this machine,
- but 'who' lists two other users, taking up 4 pseudo-ttys. I think
- something is failing to remove /etc/utmp entries when people log off/
- close windows.
-
- I observe this phenomenon on four separate machines.
-
- So, some questions
- 1) Does anyone else suffer from this problem?
- 2) If not, what misconfiguration might be causing this?
- 3) If so, is there a patch or something from SGI to fix it?
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
- Michael
