- Summary: can anyone provide hints n this problem?

- Every so often on our Nixdorf Targon 35, running TOS 3.3.04, a user,
- running att, attempting to login gets the following message:
-
- 'No "utmp" entry. You must exec login from the lowest level shell.'
-
- This problem is not limited to a specific user, terminal or port, and
- usually, if a login is attempted again, this problem goes away. However,
- sometimes, it has necessitated a reboot, as no one can login.
-
- Further investigation has found that the /etc/.attutmp file has gotten
- corrupted, somehow. There is no boot information and the 'who' command
- (among others reading the utmp file) no longer works.
-
- Has anyone else seen this particular problem? If so, how did you fix
- it?
-
- Thanks.
