Hello to you all,

I hope this is the appropriate place for my beginners question(s):

I would like to know about pen computers (or input devices) that are
actually available on the market (in germany).
price, contact, experiences etc.
Additionally I'd like to know about recognition software for handwritten
characters.

the context:
1. My knowledge about pen computing is approximately zero
2. We are planning to use a pen input device (not necessarily a complete
   computer) in combination with a mutimedia application and a touch
   screen. The task for the pen device is to replace the keyboard. Thus
   kind of recognition software for handwritten print-characters is
   additionally required.
3. We have short and long term time limits. So it is important wether things
   are REALLY available in germany today or have long delivery times or are
   annonced ... only
Any help and hint etc. is welcome.
