  14. I need to reconfigure our computer network and need some advice.
  15. So far we have been using only UNIX machines and I had no problems
  16. networking them and sharing the NeXT printer. Now we need to buy
  17. computers for several people and, although I would love to give
  18. them all NeXT stations, this is far beyond of what we can afford.
  19. So, we decided to go with cheaper Macs. My first thought was to
  20. sell my NeXT Cube and buy 2-3 Macs instead. It turns out, however,
  21. that I cannot get more than ~$4,000 for it, so I am looking for 
  22. alternatives. I have not upgraded yet to 3.0, but from what I
  23. heard it offers some compatibility with AppleTalk.

  25. I would like to ask you if the following is possible with 3.0:
  26. 1. Can NeXT be connected to a network of Macs?
  27. 2. Can NeXT printer that I have now be used as a network printer
  28.    for the Macs?
  29. 3. If we buy a large disk drive and connect it to the NeXT, can
  30.    the NeXT be used as a file server for the Mac network?
  31. 4. I will need to use primarily Word and Excel to be compatible 
  32.    with other people. Will Executor be enough for it.
  33. 5. Will I be able to send and receive Mac e-mail from my Cube?
  34.  
  35. I would appreciate your comments, and if all of this is possible
  36. (please say yes, I love my Cube) could you give some pointers
  37. as to how to do it or where to find the information about it.
