I have a NeXT cube (040) whose hard disk died recently. We're getting a new
one soon, and I'd like to install release 3 of the OS (which we just got).
The machine is currently working from the optical disk and OS release 2.
Questions:

    - The manuals that came with the 3.0 CD talk about "upgrading"
      to this version. I'd like to install it on the new drive from
      scratch. Any trick to this?

    - I don't have a NeXT CD-ROM drive, but I do have a Sun CD-ROM
      drive, and Apple one, and a "generic" (currently used on an
      SGI), all with SCSI interfaces. Any way to get the machine to
      recognize the SCSI device as a CD-ROM? Any specific one I should
      use instead of another?
