  29. MOUNTAIN VIEW, DEC 2, 1992    HSD Microcomputer U.S., Inc. today  
  30. announced that it has begun shipping an international spell checker  
  31. for NeXTSTEP that supports 11 languages.

  33. Called HSD Spell, the software will be bundled for a limited time  
  34. with NeXT's European Starting Point Kits. It will also be available  
  35. from HSD and resellers. Suggested retail price is $195, which  
  36. includes two language dictionaries English and one other. Additional  
  37. languages can be purchased for $99 each. Languages currently  
  38. supported include Danish, Dutch, English (U.K. and U.S.), Finnish,  
  39. French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.

  41. HSD Spell is shipped on two extended density disks which contain the  
  42. HSD Spell application and all 11 language dictionaries. The HSD Spell  
  43. application contains a menu choice for installing additional  
  44. languages, which can be unlocked after purchasing an activation code  
  45. from HSD.

  47. HSD President David Peter noted that HSD Spell is tightly integrated  
  48. into the NeXTSTEP 3.0 operating system so that users can check  
  49. spelling directly from the spelling panel built into most NeXTSTEP  
  50. applications.  Many applications utilize the speller built into  
  51. NeXTSTEP 3.0. HSD Spell automatically incorporates installed  
  52. languages into this panel so they can be accessed directly,  Peter  
  53. said. In applications that do not support the NeXTSTEP speller, text  
  54. can be imported via the  Services  menu into the HSD Spell  
  55. application to check spelling or perform a variety of common text  
  56. editing functions.

  59. image management and voice recognition products for NeXT, is working  
  60. on an entire suite of linguistics products for NeXTSTEP, including  
  61. thesauruses, proof readers and grammar checkers.
