- Randy, I certainly hope you aren't in the marketing department of
- Appsoft... I seriously do not agree with your 1,000 number. There
- are several commercial sites that have >500 NeXTs at each alone.
- (not to mention however many the US Gov't has). There are far more
- than 1,000 licenses to be had of software that does something that
- the average user would want. (Ok, it's up for question as to whether
- or not Adobe Photoshop qualifies as one of these, but a good
- word processor would certainly qualify - II am absolutely certain
- that WordPerfect has sold more than 1,000 copies of WordPerfect for
- NeXT)
-
- Maybe Randy thinks that no one buys NeXT products because no one has
- bought Draw. I know that I did not recommend it after I loaded the
- picture of the sports car, zoomed in twice (as I can do with
- Illustrator quite easily) and had the machine freeze writing an
- infinitely big swapfile. (Well, I did telnet in and stop it as the
- swapfile was rounding the 220 MB mark on a 32 MB color station)
-
- I would be interested to know how many licenses of Diagram! have been
- sold. My guess would be far more than 1,000, as it is an extremely
- well-designed and fairly priced product.
-
- Everyone keeps selling NeXTs short as far as market penetration.
- It's not in huge numbers yet, but we are making significant inroads
- in many markets!
