- I concur wholeheartedly, but have a few comments about making MS Word the benchmark WP.
- The GUI was initially designed to be useful on those tiny Mac screens
- (how did I ever use them?) So a premium was placed on the judicious
- use of screen real estate - even at the expense of being intuitive.
- The way styles were managed is an example.
- This was the right tradeoff then, but not on a NeXT (or even large screen Mac)
- The basic simplicity of the model of a document (doc, section, para, char)
- is very nice.

- So I'ld vote for a NeXT flavored app similar to Word in simplicity for text
- but eliminating some of the bloat and simplifying some of the more arcane
- things (tables and equations could be easier to use)
