- Hello,
-
- I've been trying desperately to get NewsGrazer to work via an NNTP connection
- over SLIP. I've tested the connection out using GNUS in GNU Emacs, which
- works fine. Here's what happens: I launch NewsGrazer, which immediately
- says "Locating Active Newsgroups..." at the top of its main window. The
- mouse pointer starts spinning, and the main menu has not yet popped up in the
- upper left corner of the screen since the application has not gotten that far.
-
- I can do a 'netstat' and see that NewsGrazer has established an NNTP connection
- to the appropriate server, but after the exact same time it takes for GNUS
- to read in the active file, NewsGrazer quits. [Further evidence that
- NG is actually doing something: 'alt.something is already in the active file'
- or a similar message appears in the console window just as NG quits.]
-
- I thought this might be a permissions-related problem--maybe NG can't write
- to a certain file, etc.--but I ran it as root with the same effect.
-
- Does anyone have a working setup for NewsGrazer under release 2.1?
-
- Thanks,
-
- Eric
