- We have a strange problem that happens with every single application that uses
- the DSP chip. When it attempts to do something with sound, we get the error
- "Can't open DSP. Perhaps another application has it." Yet the machine has
- been rebooted numerous times, so it is not very likely that some other
- application actually has the DSP open.
-
- My guess is that some application crashed while using the DSP and left some
- sort of lock behind. I would guess it is on disk somewhere, since it survives
- reboots. Of course, I could be totally wrong. Does anyone have a clue as to
- what the problem is and how to solve it?
-
- Incidently, we're still running NextStep 2.1 if it matters. I have the 3.0
- CD-ROM, and I've thought of installing it in the hopes that it would fix the
- problem, but I'd like to know for sure before I do that. Besides, I'd like to
- know what the hell this is in case it ever comes up again.
