- I was in the process of getting a .tif file from an IBM-based medical
- illustration group over at Duke Univ Med Center. The file showed up
- when copied from a DOS diskette with a TIFF icon in the File Viewer
- without any problems, but when I tried to open it with either Icon
- (the patched version for NS 3.0) or ImageViewer 0.9e, I got an error
- message saying something to the efect of "incompatible file format."
- When I tried to import it into an AppsoftDraw document, nothing happened
- and I got no error messages.
-
- Now, I vaguely understand that the TIFF protocols are one of those
- standards which are constantly in motion. I don't believe I've ever
- noticed a specific discussion about what TIFF actually is, and what
- particular flavor of TIFF that NeXT finds disgestible. (I also learned
- about the fun of importing a Mac Word RTF file into NeXT, but that's
- another discussion for another time)
-
- Peace
