- When you cmd-y a floppy it does not leave an image on the desktop.
- You were probably doing cmd-e for eject which does leave an outline
- of the floppy on the desktop.

- I always use cmd-y (put away) because it doesn't leave an image on
- the desktop and therefore I avoid the problem you are talking about.
- One more thing when the system asks you to insert "name" floppy you
- can abort that by pressing cmd-period.
