- Here is the full scoop on MacTCP domain names:
-
- In the control panel, set up the DNR fields like this:
-
- your.domain 1.2.3.4 (default)
- . 1.2.3.4 ( )
- . 5.6.7.8 ( )
-
- Where your.domain is the domain of your Mac, 1.2.3.4 is your primary name
- server's IP, and 5.6.7.8 is your secondary name server (add as many copies
- of the last line as you have name servers, but more than three is probably
- excessive. So mine might be this:
-
- curtin.edu.au 134.7.122.2 (*)
- . 134.7.122.2 ( )
- . 134.7.70.70 ( )
- . 134.7.70.1 ( )
-
- Now creats a hosts file, named "Hosts", in the System Folder, like this:
- **** Hosts: ****
- ; Hosts
-
- ncrpda.curtin.edu.au. A 134.7.122.2
- cujo.curtin.edu.au. A 134.7.70.70
- cc.curtin.edu.au. A 134.7.70.1
- sumex.curtin.edu.au. A 36.44.0.6
- umich.curtin.edu.au. A 141.211.165.41
- ****
-
- You can now connect to sumex and it will go to sumex-aim.stanford.edu.
-
- Thanks to Pete Resnick and Andre' Pirard for the info.
-
- Have fun all,
- Peter.
