  21. Okay, before anybody flames this guy for being "so stupid" as to try to
  22. run Illustrator 3.0 under System 7 (when he "has" to upgrade to v. 3.2) I
  23. happen to be running Illustrator 3.0 under System 7.1 on a Mac SE with
  24. 4MB/20MB HD. How's _that_ for eclectic?

  26. My questions are:
  27. Do you have a copy of ATM 2.0 or higher? ATM 2.0 with a compatible version
  28. of Suitcase will allow you to have Postscript fonts in any folder that has
  29. an open suitcase. (I created a "PostScript Fonts" folder, and keep the
  30. printer file and their respective bitmaps in it.) ATM 2.0 will not only
  31. allow you to use the printer files in lieu of bitmaps, but you can also
  32. use ATM to "capture" the outlines, so you can edit them or have text in a
  33. file without having to worry about having the font when you finally print
  34. it out. If you are using System 7.1, I'd suggest getting a copy of ATM
  35. 3.0; it's cheap, and you don't have to worry about locating the fonts in
  36. the Extensions Folder or the Fonts Folder; ATM 3.0 looks in both places.

  38. I have learned that, on my computer anyway, you can locate all of your
  39. fonts in the Fonts Folder in System 7.1 and Illustrator can find them. So
  40. I can assume that you could get away with having them in the Extensions
  41. Folder of 7.0.x without any snags.
