- Well, I'm using a Mac SE 4/20 and System 7.1. Works fine for me...
-
- In general, System 7 should work on any Mac from the Plus on up. Its
- performance will vary from machine to machine, and Macs that do not have a
- 68030 (or 68020/PMMU) will be unable to access such features as virtual
- memory. Some Macs have ROMs that are "32-bit dirty"; I don't know the
- technical explanation, but these machines cannot access 32-bit addressing
- without help (such as Mode32). However, you only need to worry about
- 32-bit addressing if you are dealing with more than 8MB of RAM (something
- an unmodified SE, Classic, or Plus doesn't have to worry about.)
