- A widespread bug has been discovered the UNIX compress 4.1. This bug is
- known to have spread to the GIF implementations in UNIX XV and the PBMplus
- utilities. I suspect that this bug exists in GIFFER and QuickGIF.

- This bug does NOT result in the loss of data. However, GIF files may be
- encoded at up to 20% larger than expected size. This bug was first
- discovered when compressing files with QuickGIF generated files that were
- quite a bit larger than the original GIF.

- problem in your source code (if you may have cloned this bug).
