  26. I have, however, confronted the person from whom I heard about the lack
  27. of a reliable TCP/IP tool for the CTB with your responses.  His explanation
  28. was that when work began on our project (before I was hired), there was
  29. no such tool available - unless we wanted to shell out big bucks for
  30. licensing.  We couldn't do that, so we had to roll our own TCP/IP (and
  31. modem, for that matter).

  33. I apologize for spreading possible misinformation.

  35. HOWEVER, I have also since discovered that Apple's licensing demands for
  36. MacTCP and similar tools essentially prevents any government product from
  37. being distributed along with it.  The upshot is that some of the least-
  38. expensive software cannot be distributed with all components necessary for
  39. full functionality; the user must be relied on to obtain the Apple tools
  40. h{im,er}self.  Gack.
