- I have, however, confronted the person from whom I heard about the lack
- of a reliable TCP/IP tool for the CTB with your responses. His explanation
- was that when work began on our project (before I was hired), there was
- no such tool available - unless we wanted to shell out big bucks for
- licensing. We couldn't do that, so we had to roll our own TCP/IP (and
- modem, for that matter).

- HOWEVER, I have also since discovered that Apple's licensing demands for
- MacTCP and similar tools essentially prevents any government product from
- being distributed along with it. The upshot is that some of the least-
- expensive software cannot be distributed with all components necessary for
- full functionality; the user must be relied on to obtain the Apple tools
- h{im,er}self. Gack.
