- MPW is modelled on the UNIX Programmer's Workbench, circa 1978, and
- offers roughly the same level of functionality. It was state of the art
- when Apple picked it as a model, even though it's been bypassed by
- more modern environments. It predates the C shell, although some
- pattern-matching has been bolted on.
