- It's very simple. If Apple and Novell merge, as Novell and DR merged, then
- the company we know as "Apple" will be selling the operating system we know
- as "DR-DOS". Therefore presumably the FSF would have to boycott DR-DOS in
- the same way it boycotts the Mac System. Or is it just a hardware boycott?

- You can run Windows on top of Novell DR-DOS.
-
- > Why can't I boycott DR-DOS and not boycott MS-DOS?
-
- It's going to be technically difficult, not to mention unpopular. When
- someone says "I'm running GCC on my 386 under Windows, and it's causing my
- DOS shells to crash", you're going to have to ask him exactly which DOS he
- bought, and explain that if he bought DR-DOS instead of MS-DOS or PC-DOS or
- Compaq DOS or whatever, you're going to refuse to help him. You're going to
- have to ask him if he's running gcc on a Novell Netware fileserver.
-
- Also, DR-DOS and Netware have a significant share of the market. Such a
- boycott might actually hurt the FSF.
