-
- So because Lotus is being boycotted and since Lotus sells a spreadsheets
- programs, then all spreadsheet programs must be boycotted? Your argument
- does not follow.
-
- What does Novell have to do with MS-Windows? Digital Research at one
- time had a competing product called GEM, but Apple helped kill it. I'm
- sure Novell would love to get into the GUI system market again. That
- could be why they allegedly want this merger.
-
- Why can't I boycott DR-DOS and not boycott MS-DOS? They are
- competitors, Novells wants people to buy DR-DOS, and Microsoft wants
- people to buy MS-DOS. Microsoft would be very glad if I boycotted all
- Novell products, since they compete with them on client (??-DOS) and
- server (Netware, LAN Manager) "operating" systems.
-
- I have never ever used DR-DOS, although I hear it's pretty good. I
- could very easily never use it. Or, I could never use MS-DOS again in
- favor of DR-DOS, although this could be a bit more difficult for me.
- I've got a choice.
-
- I can easily never use Netware again, I'd use one of the many other
- peer to peer systems for low end, and LAN Manager, Banyan VINES, NFS,
- or whatever else there is on the market for high end. I've got a
- choice.
-
- I do not see how you think Novell is totally essential to the Intel
- compatible market. It isn't. I don't think any single company is any
- more. IBM, Intel, and Microsoft could disappear tomorrow and it
- wouldn't do much at all except perhaps decrease certain parts in the
- short run and increase competition in the long rung.
