  12.     I just was wondering about the SoftAT demo.

  14.   I got this from sumex-aim(supposedly the authority in 
  15. Macintosh free/shareware)  and though it was really 
  16. full-featured. I just supposed that someday it would 
  17. disappear since it was a demo and it is sold for much $$$.

  19. Well, when I looked at the sites again (to see if the demo 
  20. was only in a limited release)it was nowhere to be found.  I
  21.  mailed a letter to an archivist of the umich archives.  He 
  22. said that the demo was the REAL thing and had been removed.
  23.   This is totally amazing.  If you were to go to the store 
  24. SoftAT would cost over $200.  But at least from October to
  25.  December it has been hopping along the net for anyone to 
  26. take for free??  Of course the taking(like in my case) was 
  27. under the pretense of a demonstration model so maybe when
  28.  I ran into enough money(and liked the program) could 
  29. eventually buy it.

  31.     But the proliferation of this 100% working model would
  32.  seem to me the makes of a scandal.  I wonder what the 
  33. people at Insignia are thinking.  I wonder too what the 
  34. reaction is from sumex-aim.  I have heard of no official
  35.  reactions or statements. I would expect to see something
  36.  like Rer excuse me that demo you have of softat is not a 
  37. demo and please erase it promptly.S  I have seen no such 
  38. message and am wondering what the XXXX is going on!

  40.          What are my legalistic obligations.? What are those of 
  41. all the different sites? What if this made it into private 
  42. BBSes and even pressed onto shareware CD-ROMS.??! This is
  43.  all quite mysterious and would love if someone could 
  44. explain to me the answers of my questions and any other 
  45. greater implications of the case of the SoftAT demo that wasnUt.
