  18. 2.  Free system software & updates again

  25. All of the above would make life easier for those of us still valiantly
  26. trying to evangelize at our educational institutions...a job that has gotten
  27. much more difficult with Apple's recent software unbundling decisions.

  29. Anything that isn't free or bundled requires a separate purchase decision
  30. (like HyperCard, now).  That's a huge obstacle when money is so tight.
  31. We had trouble managing upgrades when they were free!  Our department receives
  32. no yearly budget allocation for software updates, for example, so every
  33. update has to be use- and cost-justified against other possible uses
  34. of that money.  ANY extra costs are hard to justify when we already don't
  35. have enough computers and the ones we _do_ have are outdated.
