- 1. Free scriptable HyperCard again
- 2. Free system software & updates again
- 3. Video support for 19" color monitors (1024x768) -- at least 8-bit color.
- It wouldn't have to be accelerated.
- 4. Educational pricing at $2000 or less per machine.
- 5. A/UX right-to-copy licenses for $50 or less per machine (not $290).
- 6. Ethernet transceivers for $25 or less per machine (not $122.50).
-
- All of the above would make life easier for those of us still valiantly
- trying to evangelize at our educational institutions...a job that has gotten
- much more difficult with Apple's recent software unbundling decisions.
-
- Anything that isn't free or bundled requires a separate purchase decision
- (like HyperCard, now). That's a huge obstacle when money is so tight.
- We had trouble managing upgrades when they were free! Our department receives
- no yearly budget allocation for software updates, for example, so every
- update has to be use- and cost-justified against other possible uses
- of that money. ANY extra costs are hard to justify when we already don't
- have enough computers and the ones we _do_ have are outdated.
