  15. NBC National evening news on May 12th said that 1 out of 5 Macintoshes in
  16. business workplace versus IBM clones.

  18. Many industry folks and Mitch Kapor said their were 60 million total
  19. perosnal business related computers (no ataris, commodores, apple II's
  20. etc.) in late 1991 and of those then industry claimed 6 million Macs.

  22. One year later 2 million Macs were sold ( a twelve month period spanning
  23. Merch to March? bringing the total still functioning and existing Macs to
  24. about 10 million or so, but the IBM clones sufferred terrible losses in
  25. numbers due to "trashing" computers (gutting old 8088 and 80286 for parts,
  26. or writing off to charities and schools, etc.) This is because many many
  27. people in the last two years bought new IBM clones but no functional use
  28. was made of their ols mother boards in many cases.

  30. I read in MacWeek and PCWeek (vague recollection) that 1 out of every 5
  31. (yes 1/5) of every newly purchased personal computer bound fgor a business
  32. desk IS A MACINTOSH!!!! Wow! Astonishing number, but then again I know
  33. some firms with over a Hundred Macs and have corporate bans on IBM clone
  34. purchases so its not hard to imagine those figures nowadays.

  36. Conservatives place Mac to functioning PC Clone ration at 1:8 ratio, I now
  37. cautionsly place the ratio at 1:7.

  39. Apple has sold more computers (in dollar value) than IBM has for over 3
  40. straight years, but then again who buys IBM equipment when looking for "PC
  41. generic clones"

  43. The imagewriter II is the most "popular" (total units) printer ever sold
  44. in history from any company.

  47. networking technologies in the world combined. (was true in 1988, probably
  48. still true)

  50. Apple sold over 50,000 Mac 128's before Feb 1984, but in the last three
  51. years only a little over 100,000 NeXT computers total have been sold.

  55. vague memories of info in computer magazines and are probably loosely
  56. accurate.
