- It may be too late for this. An Apple employee explained to a group of network
- managers here the other day that they had made the product managers for various
- products responsible for showing a profit for their product, resulting in
- things like $150,000 site licenses for MacX. He implied, however, that pricing
- had been taken out of the managers' hands because of the uproar and that
- large-site pricing policy would be set at some higher level than that of the
- product managers.

- Nothing was said about when any of this might occur. Details were as sketchy
- as they always are when an Apple employee wearing a tie speaks in public.
- (Often the same person, caught one-on-one without his tie, will tell you
- anything off the record if he knows you. Too bad my university doesn't have an
- Apple rep any more.)
