- My brother is having trouble with his brand new PB100 battery. As soon as
- he unplugs the charger, the battery indicators (he has 3 of them) all drop a
- notch, or sometimes two, instead of showing that he retains a full charge.
- He also is only getting about 40 minutes of use (with conservative power
- habits) before he gets his first low-battery warning message.
-
- He is running MyBattery, which tells him that the voltage drops from 7.x when
- charging to 6.x when he pulls the charger. MyBattery also tells him that he
- has about 1 hour of use on a 'fully charged' battery. He had this problem
- with the original battery and charger, but he's using a new battery and new
- charger (from the Apple dealer) now, and he has the same problems as
- before.
-
- I have read a post or two from folks complaining about the lead-acid battery
- performance of the PB100's, and it seems like my brother's problems are not
- unique. Does anyone have 1) similar experiences, 2) any semi-detailed
- technical information about what the battery behavior should be, or 3) any
- work-around ideas (3rd party lead-acid or nicad batteries,
- power-conditioning chargers, small animal sacrifices, etc.)
-
- All replies, posted or emailed, will be appreciated.
-
- Cheers,
-
- Alan
