- The (Finnish) manual that came with my PB160 says that if I use an external
- 16" color monitor, the powerbook will automatically operate in power saving
- mode (16Mhz) to prevent overheating and to allow the battery to recharge.
-
- I happen to have a 16" display and the computer runs just as fast as without
- the monitor.
-
- My question is: if I leave the computer running at 25Mhz, is there a risk of
- experiencing reliability problems? In addition to the monitor, I have a
- PowerPort/Silver internal modem and a 4MB memory expansion card.
-
- In the course of trying to determine how efficient the video interface
- is, I ran some tests on my old PB140 and the new machine in various
- modes and configurations. The PB160 is significantly faster than the
- PB140 even when the machines are running at the same clock speed.
