  10. I understand that 2-chip 1M SIMMs won't work in a Mac Plus. Or an SE, perhaps.
  11. Well-known fact. You need 8-chip SIMMs.

  13. What I can't figure out is why.

  15. It doesn't make a lot of sense. The SIMMs (2-chip v 8-chip) are pin-compatible
  16. and the 2-chip ones are certainly fast enough. The Mac *can't* ask for
  17. individual bits on the SIMM: it asks for a byte and it gets a byte. How in the
  18. world can it make a difference whether that byte came from two chips or from
  19. eight? Its very strange...
