- Two points to the IBM wonk who posted this thread:
-
- 1) According to the _Wall Street Journal_ and _USA Today_, Apple Computer
- is now the number one seller of computers in the US today. If you include
- PC clones, then sure the number of "Intel-based" computers sold is higher,
- but Apple sells more computers than IBM itself does.
-
- 2) Why are all those Macs sitting idle in your college's computer labs?
- Simple. The idiots running your computer science and business schools are
- all operating under the old rule: "Nobody was ever fired for buying IBM."
- When students are ORDERED to carry out their programming and spreadsheet
- assignments using PC programs on PC computers, of *course* they aren't
- going to be using the Macs. Here at NYU, OTOH, the departments aren't
- nearly as IBM-anal, and both PCs and Macs get extensive use; on many
- nights it's damn near impossible to get into ANY of the computers labs, no
- matter what computers are sitting on the desks.
