- Hmm, how do you replace the Heatsinks?
-
- I ordered a PB 160 6Meg memory module from memory direct and the sent
- me a PB140 one. Not knowing the difference (there was no label, and I
- have never seen one before), I brought the module to my apple dealer
- to get installed. I knew about the problems with the old modules not
- fitting, but I thought that I had one that would fit (I specified this
- when ordering). The Apple dealer installed the memory and brought out
- a bag with little foam pads. I asked the guy if the pads were heat
- sinks (twice) and was told that they were not (he said they were
- spacers). Dubious I went home thinking "He's an Apple tech, he should
- know whats inside a Mac", yeah right. So I posted this question, and
- found out the two little foam pads were heatsinks. I have a
- replacement memory module coming (one that fits into a 160 properly),
- meanwhile my 160 is sitting here missing two heatsinks, how do I put
- them in again?
-
- I wonder if Apple training says that if something doesnt fit inside a
- computer to remove components until it does...
-
- Never trust anyone with you computer it seems.
