-
- If you _really_ don't care about color and if most of your work will be word
- processing, then you don't need a PowerBook 180 or even 160 -- a
- black-and-white 145 will do. If you want gray scale, then a 160 is nice
- (I have one, and I love it) and only a few hundred $$ more than the 145.
- The only advantages of the 180 over the 160 are the FPU (which you wouldn't
- use for word processing) and the nicer, much more expensive screen.
- Remember, you can buy a 160 and a 13" color monitor to plug it into for less
- than the price of a 180. And with a 160, you won't go through the agony of
- stuck pixels.
-
- I don't know how PowerBooks could be produced in a new, smaller package,
- and still retain space for a full-size keyboard, a 640 x 400 screen, a
- hard drive, and a floppy drive.
-
- I doubt very much that PowerBook prices will come down anytime soon since
- they're in extremely short supply. I would advise that you buy today --
- it might take until next February to get a PowerBook even if you order now.
