- Hi there! In response to your posting, it is possible to develop such a
- device but there is already a few products available on the market that
- utilitizes the standard serial port on the Macintosh Systems.
-
- One of these products is called PowerPrint by GDT Softworks, Inc. =)
-
- It's a package that contains a variety of Chooser-level printer drivers (i.e.
- Epson FX, LQ, Canon BJ-series and HP LaserJet series) and a special serial to
- parallel converter cable (DIN8 to centronics printer port).
-
- Apple also has a package called 'Macintosh Print Pack' which is basically a
- smaller version of the GDT PowerPrint package. In addition, Apple also has a
- special bundle called the PC Companion Kit which is aimed at PowerBook and
- Duo users. This kit contains a bunch of useful utilities such as DataVis
- MacLink translators, MacVGA, Macintosh PC Exchange and also GDT PowerPrint.
-
- If you have any more questions, please feel free to post and ask! =)
-
- Seasons Greetings!
