  22.    Evidently the Volume Information Block gets corrupted.  It requires MacTools2.0
  23.    to repair otherwise your only solution is to reformat.  This is a pain because
  24.    NO ONE has System 7.1 Emergency Utility disks out there.  Creating your
  25.    own is close to impossible.  A minimum system 7.1 floppy takes up about
  26.    1.2 Meg of space.  Neither MacTools or Norton can fit.

  28. Before Dark is not the only thing that can cause this problem.  I had
  29. problems with DiskExpress II, Now Startup Manager and with NowMenus
  30. (the NowMenus one went away when I reformatted the drive using Hard
  31. Disk ToolKit).  I'm not real confident that it won't happen again.  As
  32. more and more people get Duos I'm seeing more and more reports (at
  33. least 4 so far counting myself) of this kind of hard disk trashing on
  34. the Duo's.  It appears to be a problem with the IBM drive.
