- Evidently the Volume Information Block gets corrupted. It requires MacTools2.0
- to repair otherwise your only solution is to reformat. This is a pain because
- NO ONE has System 7.1 Emergency Utility disks out there. Creating your
- own is close to impossible. A minimum system 7.1 floppy takes up about
- 1.2 Meg of space. Neither MacTools or Norton can fit.

- Before Dark is not the only thing that can cause this problem. I had
- problems with DiskExpress II, Now Startup Manager and with NowMenus
- (the NowMenus one went away when I reformatted the drive using Hard
- Disk ToolKit). I'm not real confident that it won't happen again. As
- more and more people get Duos I'm seeing more and more reports (at
- least 4 so far counting myself) of this kind of hard disk trashing on
- the Duo's. It appears to be a problem with the IBM drive.
